The high quality of the auto-glasses depends on the prep-treatment, tempering, lamination, encapsulation, extrusion and functionality added components. 

The quality of the auto-glass also determines how much solar radiation passes through it. The radiation pervades in three ranges – ultraviolet, visible and infrared. These three types of radiation define climate comfort and safety. 

Depending on its purpose, the windscreens are two types: tempered (security) and laminated (triplex).

Tempered auto-glasses are most commonly used in the rear and side windows of vehicles. They are designed to be much stronger than standard glasses and in case of breakage, the glass shatters into very small pieces as a safety measure, thereby significantly reducing the risk of injury. It can be both, colored and high-colored.

• Triplex auto-glass contains two thin layers of glass and a single inter-layer of polyvinylbutyral (PVB). It is used for vehicle windscreens, in some cases as a back-lights and side windows. The production colors are green, blue, gray, brown and very dark. Its built-in UV filter extends the interior lifespan. In case of breakage, the glass is held in place by the inter-layer, retaining visibility and safety of passengers and the driver.

• It is mandatory that through the production process, auto-glasses are a subject to relevant expertise, meeting or exceeding all international requirements: for material hardnes (470HK), load resistance (800-100 Mpa), elasticity (70,000 Mpa), plexural strength (45 Mpa). The density of the auto-glass should be 2500 kg/cu. For example, 4 mm thick glass weighs 10 kg per square meter. The softening temperature is approximately 600ºC. All automotive glasses have undergone a test of endurance and have a temperature resistance of at least 96 hours at 90ºC.

The trend is for annual increase of the new model vehicle's glazing area.
